High altitudes, steep slopes, hand-picked grapes and wines with exclusive characteristics that are closely linked to the particularities of the soil, the location and the climate of each region. These viticulture processes are truly heroic since they entail having to cope with difficult production conditions, elevated costs, and manual labour and also require the use of special techniques. Viticulture is a 4,000 years old tradition in Crete and currently there are more than 35 wineries in operation working -among others- with indigenous varieties. On Friday 04 October PIATO restaurant is hosting another wine tasting event -the last one for this season- and invites you to discover the island's wine panorama, focusing on local varieties that stand out for their high quality and uniqueness. Our friend and partner, W.S.E.T. level 3 sommelier Alexandros Katsikandarakis, and our head chef Alexandros Kiousambas with his team, have prepared a unique evening dedicated to the wine gems of Crete.
